Record-Breaking El Nino a Sign of the Times?
The coming of the Son of Man will be preceded by the sea and waves roaring, according to the book of Luke—which may come to pass this winter.
The 2015-2016 El Nino predictions indicate the weather pattern will be the strongest on record and is “going to mess with everything.”
El Nino is an irregularly occurring and complex series of climatic changes affecting the equatorial Pacific region and beyond every few years, characterized by the appearance of unusually warm, nutrient-poor water off northern Peru and Ecuador, typically in late December.
But the consequences of the pattern reach much further than Central America.
“It has choked Singapore with smoke, triggered Pacific typhoons and left Vietnamese coffee growers staring nervously at dwindling reservoirs,” Bloomberg reports. “In Africa, cocoa farmers are blaming it for bad harvests, and in the Americas, it has Argentines bracing for lower milk production and Californians believing that rain will finally, mercifully fall.”
As a result of the weather pattern, other biblical prophecies may come to pass:
- Bad harvests can lead to famine (Mark 13). “The droughts associated with the ”El Nino-Southern Oscillation’ led to a chain of large-scale agricultural crises in the tropics and in northern China, and these directly contributed to the disasters,” according to a book about the El Nino famines in the third world.
- Fish are driven into deeper waters or killed (Rev. 8). ABC News reports: “The forced migration can also have a ripple effect. Scientists have found that mackerel migrated farther north than usual, feeding on juvenile salmon and thus further depleting this important and troubled resource.”
- Migratory bird population cut nearly in half (Hos. 4). “The population of a migratory bird species drops dramatically whenever El Nino, everybody’s favorite source of strange weather, raises its head. If the population of endangered species fluctuates the same way, El Nino could speed their demise, researchers say,” according to Science Magazine.
The infamous El Nino strikes fear in the hearts of those who have studied it, causing devastating effects all across the globe.
Mainstream media outlets have even declared the record-breaking pattern is a “harbinger of the future,” and the strongest ripples from El Nino are yet to come.
