Franklin Graham: National Security Our Biggest Concern?

Share:

Dear Friend,

The National Security Agency has been in the news lately because of reports about personal data stored on government computers. A number of people are upset by what they feel is an invasion of individual privacy.

Everyone should be reminded that almighty God keeps personal data far more detailed than any computer.

The Bible tells us that God tracks every bird of the air, understands where and when every wind blows, and knows every single thought we have. He knows our comings and goings, and He is aware of the syllables we will utter before our tongue can form them. Even before we were born, He knew everything about us—absolutely everything (Psalm 139:1–5).

Yet many are not in awe or fear of such an omniscient, omnipotent God who rules over the heavens and the earth. We should stand in humble reverence of the Judge who will one day call all people to give an account of their lives. “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Heb. 4:13, NIV).

The Good News is that the things we have done or failed to do that deserve God’s penalty can be permanently erased from our account. But there is just one way for that to happen—repent of our sins and put our faith only in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We must come to Him for forgiveness, thanking Him that once we have trusted in the Savior, He is no longer “counting people’s sins against them” (2 Cor. 5:19).

The Lord’s omniscience is to be feared by those who hope to hide their evil thoughts and deeds, but it is a wonderful encouragement for all who live their lives in obedience to Him: “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chron. 16:9, NASB). God’s intimate knowledge of His people is our constant source of strength and comfort.

It is that loving, caring heart of the Lord that I want people to sense and respond to this fall as thousands of churches and individual believers partner with us in the My Hope America with Billy Graham project to reach across the nation with the love of Jesus Christ.

Already, well over 14,000 churches from all 50 states have registered for My Hope America, with more being added every week. Throughout the summer, we are working with these churches to train people in their congregations who will take part in the campaign in November.

I am asking you to participate, to be the connection for people you know who need to encounter the transforming love of Christ and experience the power of the gospel in their lives. Pray for them and keep praying for them, asking God to get their attention, open their minds and change their hearts.

Then this fall, you can join tens of thousands of other Christians all over America by inviting a few people you know to your house, your church or a neighborhood gathering place to together watch a special My Hope America video/TV program. It will be a program that includes a gospel message from my father interwoven with powerful real-life stories of changed lives.
