How to Stand on the Bible Amid America’s Sexual Confusion

When engaging the LGBTQ+ agenda today as a Christians, it’s important to do so with kindness and truth—because the spirit of Christ inside us is both: “But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy and truth” (Ps. 86:15).

So when we saw the headline in our hometown newspaper last week, “Drag queen reports online threats for wanting to read books to Charlotte children,” we had two simultaneous reactions.

On the one hand, we felt a desire to protect this young, cross-dressing guy. Our faith compels us to love others more than ourselves because each individual life is a soul created by God. All human beings—no matter what—are valuable to God. And as such, they are valuable to us.

On the other hand, we continue to be appalled by the never-ending, forced sexual agenda on the innocent minds of young children.

And, yes, there is an agenda behind the LGBTQ+ revolution.

Although our Christian faith teaches that all sin is the same—it separates us from God— we don’t see an agenda of adulterers marching through our streets on adultery pride day. We don’t have thieves uniting to read books promoting thievery to our children in public libraries. And we don’t have “anti-bullying” campaigns against those that say adultery and stealing are wrong—nor do we place the dreaded “hater” label on them for speaking up.

So there’s a clear and calculated agenda attached to the LGBTQ+ revolution—and it’s steeped in lies and deceit as it targets the most innocent among us.

So because we love Jesus, we’re going to speak the truth in love—both to this young, cross-dressing man and to the folks hijacking his sexual confusion to force their agenda on children.

Christ’s words tell us, “Let love be without hypocrisy. Hate what is evil. Cleave to what is good” (Rom. 12:9), and love “rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth” (1 Cor. 13:6).

So, here’s our attempt at biblical love applied to this issue.

This young man, Brandon James, said he has “received death threats on Facebook” over his request for a Drag Queen Storytime at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. If this is true, then it needs to be reported to the police immediately. We have measures in place for protection, and we stand with Brandon against such threats.

We’ve been threatened countless times ourselves. We know the feeling.

Yet what the paper reported that was so threatening was a single tweet by #KeepNCSafe, saying, “We say no @cmlibrary keep it out of the Queen City. Storytime with a Drag Queen is not helping kids. It’s disturbing.”

That is not a death threat. As a matter of fact, it’s a true statement reflecting an overwhelming majority of people that find this entire situation to be disturbing. Unfortunately, most of them remain silent for fear of being labeled and bullied.

The very thing those pushing this agenda proclaim to suffer, bullying, is precisely what they do to everyone else. If you disagree with drag queens promoting their confused lifestyle to young kids, then you are a hater and a bigot—and your resistance is considered threatening to them.

But it’s all a lie. And it not only promotes an agenda, but it perverts a life.

According to the article, Brandon came to Charlotte to perform later in the week. The last time we saw drag queens perform in our city was at the gay pride parade. To say it was disturbing is to put it mildly.

Even more disturbing, though, is the life of Brandon James—a young man created and loved by God, trapped in sexual confusion and bondage. God’s love for Him inside of us compels us to tell him the truth—that he’ll never find the love of a father in the arms of another man or dressing like a woman. And he won’t find it performing in clubs or reading in libraries, either.

The only place he’ll find hope and healing is in the arms of the truest man who ever lived—the man Jesus Christ. It’s our prayer that he meets this man and lets Him reveal just exactly who He created him to be.

Regardless of the heat we’re sure to take for this, Brandon’s life and the minds of young children matter more to us than the labels we earn for speaking up. {eoa}
