Hanukkah foreshadows the end times.

Jonathan Cahn: Hanukkah Foreshadows the End Times

Share:

Ah, the holiday season: Time for celebrating gratitude, the birth of Christ and … Hanukkah?

Yes, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn says of the typically Jewish holiday.

“Hanukkah has everything to do with believers, as well,” Cahn tells Jim Bakker. “But Hanukkah, more than any other holy day from biblical times, is the one that gives the most detail, the most foreshadow of the end times.”

Hanukkah is meant to celebrate the rededication of the temple after it was destroyed.

“Since the golden Menorah (candelabra) had been stolen by the Syrians, the Maccabees now made one of cheaper metal. When they wanted to light it, they found only a small cruse of pure olive oil bearing the seal of the High Priest Yochanan,” according to Chabad.org. “It was sufficient to light only for one day. By a miracle of G-d, it continued to burn for eight days, til new oil was made available. That miracle proved that G-d had taken His people under His protection. In memory of this, our sages appointed these eight days for annual thanksgiving and for lighting of candles.”

Cahn finds several end-time parallels in several elements of the Hanukkah story:

  • It’s the holy day with the abomination desolation
  • Foreshadow of the anti-Christ
  • Symbols of persecution
