People’s Convoy Continues Freedom-Fighting Jericho March Around Nation’s Capital

“Faith without works is dead” is a basic biblical principle (see James 2:14-26), and a couple from the historic Amish area of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, have put their faith in action, bringing food and supplies to the Washington, D.C., area to support the People’s Convoy as participants move into their second week.

“We have been supporting and praying for the convoy, first in Canada, and then have been so excited to see it starting in California and have been following it,” say Duane and Doris Petersheim.

“God uses all of us to make a difference, and it has been amazing to see everyone is rising up and standing together regardless of individual differences,” they continue. “We have forgotten our enemy—we have an enemy that is evil!”

Up to 30 miles long with a total of nearly 7,000 vehicles, the People’s Convoy has settled in Hagerstown, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C., to continue its daily circle around the capital city.

“We are not political; we do not want to get involved in any kind of political discussion,” convoy organizer Brian Base says, speaking alongside the Petersheims in front of the U.S. Capitol. “Our mission is very simple : We want our freedoms back and will continue to circle the capital until our freedoms are returned, all emergency decrees and mandates are dropped on behalf of the American people.”

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, joined the convoy, first in Hagerstown and then riding along with participants on their daily circle of the famed Washington Beltway.

The Petersheims put out a call to believers: “It is no longer an option to stay uninvolved. Our beloved nation has been taken over by anti-Christian communists who hate America, hate the Lord Jesus Christ and want to destroy everything we have,” they say. “As believers, just like Jesus in the temple when he stood firmly against evil, we are called to make a difference. Please join us by participating where you live to encourage the various convoys as they pass a freeway nearby and help the convoy by sending supplies and help, even joining the convoy as we have for a day or two.”

Stephen Strang, bestselling author of God and Cancel Culture, writes, “Having a great church service where you feel the power of God is important, but today’s services rarely mobilize the members to change culture.” This stands in direct contrast to our Savior’s actions in Matthew 21:12: “Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who sold and bought in the temple and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who sold doves.”

With daily prayer and three prayer tables for believers to organize and pray for a successful effort by the People’s Convoy, many who pray and work for religious freedom in other countries find themselves praying for the same religious and personal freedom in America itself. The convoy, following in the wake of the Canadian Freedom Convoy, is leading the way as believers stand up for their faith. To join and support, reach participants at thepeoplesconvoy.org. {eoa}
