Prophetic Word: The Lord Says, ‘Greater Things Shall You Do’

The Lord showed me something unique, about the authority of the believer in this season and the preparation that comes for that authority to be effective.

“Moses decreed to us a law, the inheritance of the assembly of Jacob. He was king over Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together. Let Reuben live, and not die and let not his men be few” (Deut. 33:4-6).

Here, Moses makes a statement over Reuben about life, attraction and influence. The importance of what Moses declared over him cannot be overstated. Reuben entered into the world accompanied by—and thus named—words based on pain and relief.

As a man, Reuben did the unthinkable by sleeping with one of his father’s concubines. In fact, as his father, Jacob, was passing into eternity, he released the father’s blessing over his sons:

“Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed; then you defiled it—he went up to my couch” (Gen. 49:3-4).

Oh, the weight of carrying such a curse because of your willful mistake of defiling your father’s bed!

Now enters Moses, stage right, into the matter of the ages.

Moses was sure to become the deliverer of Israel, but before walking into this destiny, Moses was a callous murderer. He was exiled to live with a Midianite for 40 years. The providence of God was duly at work as it wasn’t just any Midianite but a priest. He was therefore exposed to spiritual matters, disciplines and truths that would sustain him in days and years to come. It was divinely appointed that he would spend his “wandering and seeking” years in that specific priest’s tent. This is what is meant for the “steps of the righteous to be ordered by the Lord.” He could thus relate to the theophanies of God that was to come—such as the burning bush—because his senses and discernment had been honed in the presence of his father-in-law.

In that theophany, God commissioned him as a leader, deliverer, teacher, miracle worker—all Israel needed of the Divine in human form, Moses was to be. Although Moses had an element of priestly instruction from Jethro, he was still learning that it was outside the covenant of Abraham and its full tenets. As such, Moses hadn’t fully grasped the exhaustive requirements of the covenant.

This was evident when his wife saved him from death because he hadn’t circumcised his son and so became the “bridegroom of blood” (Ex. 4:25). God is showing Moses couldn’t fully stand as the deliverer and one to ward off destruction in the courts of heaven until he came fully into the “commonwealth of Israel.” To do this, Moses needed to reinforce the covenant through the physical act of circumcision. He needed, even with help from his wife, to go back to doing right.

What do we need to physically do to fully activate the authority, access and elevation that comes from the covenant? Let’s not haste! For when it comes to God’s part, “I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.” As the delivery was cemented and the yoke of Egypt firmly lifted, God invited Moses for 40 days of intimate dialogue and direction for not just Israel but the whole of mankind.

Imagine the legalities in the spirit realm when the law of “thou shall not kill” was uttered. This was a “murderer” being instructed to convey to all mankind the consequences of taking another’s life. Why would such brief commandment take 40 days and 40 nights?

I submit to you that the weight of what was to be delivered to mankind of the Almighty’s laws, demanded lengthy legislation, as the vessel was a guilty vessel. Yet, redemption had its way, as the mercy of God had so mantled Moses during those 40 days and from his initial calling, that he could now become Israel’s redeemer and lawgiver. He could now speak into what he once was without shame, fear or accusation. He was now given power over the consequence and curse of what once shackled him.

This is the nature God gives to those He’s chosen for a time and an epoch. Moses was a friend of God. His anger may have caused him to kill; however, although God had dealt with his anger, Moses didn’t learn. As a result, he could not enter the land flowing with milk and honey. His anger led to disobedience when he struck the rock instead of speaking to it.

Today, we’ve been thrust into a Sinai narrative of reassigning and conveying God’s heart to the world as we disciple followers of Jesus. For this to be adequately done, there needs to be resets that deal with our innermost issues of identity, habits, strongholds and attitudes. For some, this has to do with legalistic issues being held over us. For others, mental bondages and travelers we have brought into this year. When God gives us His tablets of truths that touch issues we have been carrying or that have been held over us, we do so from a place of purity, power and priestly acquittal that ensures when we speak, all nations and generations stand up and listen, break curses off nations and lead them into the liberty of the Son.

It’s the reset that God is taking us through that will be the litmus test and answer to the ‘”Where is your God?” that is being asked from nation to nation. Are we saying God is not God, and He’s not able to show up when we speak? The answer is found in this question: Are we on our faces asking to be recalibrated through the reset, so just like Elijah, we can say with vigor, ‘at my word'”?

In John 10:10, Jesus’ immortal exclamation of His deity and assignment for those the enemy “came to steal, kill and destroy” was magnified for all to hear, for “I have to come to give them life and life to the fullest.” He came to be the ultimate curse breaker of what had been left derelict and decaying because of the enemy’s interference. He knew what was taken and destroyed and so needed to reverse to bring restoration. Whatever position God has given you in the body of Christ, let us learn of Him, so character can be refined and then we speak like Jesus did on issues that may have bound us, with purity, to see life in abundance envelope the hearers you are called to.

Character molded by the reset is what will give us amplification in the realm of the spirit, so when we speak, demons wouldn’t ridicule us with their retort of “Jesus I know, Paul I know; but who are you?” There are many people speaking into areas where the enemy is saying “Who are you?” Your words may be true and even have sola scriptura as its foundation, but they have no effect because it emanates from an impure place.

For there to be sustained authority and influence in the earth, we need to know the value of pain. We need to know the value of what God is putting us through to have real authority to take and have lasting dominion. Only when the Holy Spirit has had His way to mold and form us once again, then will we be able to stand on the heights and be a voice. No longer will we release the echoes of yesteryear. Instead, we will speak a new word with a new refined voice, a new revived sound that causes all to stand and exclaim “Take us to your God.” All because we have been transformed, and our righteousness is now of God.

It’s in the springs and fountain of friendship with God that we can be His voice, for it is said “Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His purpose to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). It is in the revelation of His nature through the cultivation of bridal friendship with God, that we gain the authority, like Moses, to reverse curses.

It’s the reset we need. Reuben had Moses to be his father because he fought and wrestled to bring the law. His identity and position were clearly defined as a king over Israel, a true and affirmed adjudicator. So when he issued that decree over Reuben, it was settled and thus recorded in the annals of the Word of God.

When our identities are clearly defined, He puts His hands over our lips, so we can speak into places and gain dominion to bring victory to many people groups and nations. “Greater things shall you do” is what Jesus spoke over those who readily apply His grace and endure the varying processes. We truly will do greater exploits.

I do believe with all my heart that many in this generation will see the tangible power and the miraculous hand of God as we yield to Him and understand His ways and what He’s teaching us. Even if there’s resistance, we will look to His principles in the past and how that worked to gain wisdom to shift and see victory, access and breakthrough in the present.

Let’s get back to His ancient path that is His Word. He has said in Genesis 2:8 that “The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.”

There is a place for each and every one of us. In that place there is a river that parts and creates multiple river heads that bring us everything we ever need. In this reset, God is looking for the one He has formed to put into His patch to regain and recover what was originally intended. {eoa}
