ICEJ USA Director: The Prophetic Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles
I was privileged to have been present at the first International Christian Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem in 1980 and have participated in over 30 Feasts since then. The impact of this annual event has been felt around the world, yet its finest days are still ahead.
It was at that first Feast of Tabernacles that the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem was founded with a multifaceted purpose: to be a Christian expression of support for Israel, to stand with Israel as an “embassy” in Jerusalem at a time when all national embassies had vacated Israel’s capital city, and to annually host this Feast of Tabernacles event.
To understand the significance of this undertaking, one must understand the context of its emergence in 1980. Few churches celebrated or even taught about the Feast of Tabernacles.
The state of Israel was only 32 years old and there was no global Christian organization or movement supporting the Jewish State.
However, a prayer group of men and women full of vision and faith stepped out to bring the global church into an understanding of the prophetic Feast of Tabernacles and the biblical significance of the return of the Jewish people to their homeland.
Forty years later, it is astounding to see churches all around the world celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles and hundreds of millions of Christians praying for and standing with Israel and the Jewish people.
