Why the Modern Church Has Lost Its Holy Spirit Fire—and How We Can Reignite It

Spiritually speaking, many of today’s ministers are playing marbles instead of preparing for war to reclaim all that’s been stolen and discarded from the body of Christ and even the nation. Too many are fighting internal wars and being totally sidetracked from the Father’s will and plan. Many would fare much better if they stayed in their own lane and fulfilled their own assignment instead of getting in someone else’s lane and trying to correct someone else’s assignment.

Still others are yawning at the Father’s will and intentions—passive and indifferent to the urgency of the hour, which calls for holy zeal and burning words that awaken the sleeper.

We are headed for a great event just ahead of us that will change everything in the church and the nation. No, it’s not the rapture. Yet. But that’s coming too! This is another understated theme that the Lord has highlighted to me. So many don’t even preach on these themes or even believe them anymore. Too controversial, they say. What a lame excuse for failing to preach and teach on the blessed hope of the saints and to comfort one another in this world that is becoming more and more uncomfortable for the true God-seeker!

I’ve written a book a year for the last 10 years on lost themes and truths in the body of Christ that have been understated and even discarded. (Heaven, hell, holiness, repentance, eternal judgment including the judgment seat of Christ and more.). Lack of preaching on these vital themes has opened the door for so much falsehood and seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. The absence of warning, correction and reproof from many books and writings today is glaring. I’ve been highly criticized for it, but that’s OK.

Correction, warnings and reproof are lost themes in modern Christendom and yet make up for two-thirds of the Word of God. Have you ever thought of that? Most preachers are men-pleasers, and that is why there is so little correction, reproof and even rebuke in today’s church. No wonder there’s so much sin, looseness, compromise and carnality in the body of Christ. It’s nauseating at times. Woe unto you when all men speak well of you. Blessed are you when you are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.

Many of our preachers today are echoes of others who are building their ministries and churches on marketing and entertainment. There’s an entire group of them who look the same and sound the same. No power. No demonstration. Hollow words. Empty chatter. No fire in their bellies. No prayer in their closets. And yet we are living in the days of Noah, when the wickedness of man is so great and the intents and thoughts of his heart are only evil continually, which greatly grieves the heart of the Lord (Gen. 6:5-6).

Oh little sheep and lambs of the Lord, find the ones who have gone to the wilderness and overcome every temptation that Satan has thrown at them, who live for eternal glories and who truly bear the marks of the cross, and follow their example and manner of life. Or better yet, be that person.

We are all imperfect and flawed, but I’ll be very bold to say, “Follow me as I follow Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1). If there be any good thing in me, it is Christ in me, the hope of glory! But I can tell you for sure that I have heard a sound of a mighty rushing wind, and it’s here to separate the wheat from the chaff, the honorable from the dishonorable and the gold and silver from the hay and stubble.

All that is of man shall be burned up with holy fire, but the pure and holy shall be stored up and preserved for that great day.

I’m yanking you from the incoming traffic before you get run over. I’m pulling you from the grasp of dishonorable influence and the pride and vanity of man. Place your ear on the bosom of the Father of glory. Seek the beauty of the fairest of 10,000. Let His heart captivate you and release you from carnal bondage.

Grace and peace to those who love the Lord Jesus Christ with sincerity. {eoa}

Bert Farias’ books are forerunners to personal holiness, the move of God and the return of the Lord. They also combat the departure from the faith and turning away from the truth we are seeing in this hour. Bert’s current passion is to promote a culture of the supernatural manifestations and ministries of the Holy Spirit in the church today and to pass it on to the next generation (Passing on the Move of God to the Next Generation). His newest release, now available on Kindle and on paperback, The Supernatural Church of Love and Power, is a simple blueprint for what the Lord Jesus is doing in His church today.
