The People’s Convoy Doesn’t Pass the Smell Test
All eyes are on Russia as Putin continues his unchecked invasion into Ukraine. He announced his intentions for weeks by his actions. Yet as late as Feb. 20, the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, denied that the Kremlin was preparing for an invasion of Ukraine, despite the fact that approximately 150,000 Russian forces were poised to strike.
As they did with Afghanistan, the Biden administration simply watched.
On Feb. 23, the denied strike took place as Putin invaded. The old adage “actions speak louder than words” is truth. We would do well to pay attention to that now.
I’ve heard some say that an invasion is not happening, the “good guys” are actually in control, and what we see taking place is simply a removal of deep state corruption. I pray that is the case. In any event, reports from people on the ground in the heart of Ukraine tell me that they have had to flee, and refugee centers are being set up. They are huddled in bomb shelters. The only thing that is clear is that none of us knows exactly what is going on. All the more reason for prayer.
As the incursion continues, as we pray for Ukraine and intervention against this horrific takeover, we must also be alert to what else is taking place. As our eyes are on one thing, rest assured there are devious actions taking place elsewhere.
This includes the Forbes news story on Thursday, “A National Vaccine Pass Has Quietly Rolled Out—And Red States Are Getting On Board,” which is a required smart health card with verifiable digital proof of vaccination.
Or the fact on Feb. 24, nine Chinese aircraft (including two H-6 bombers) entered Taiwan’s air defense zone, breaching the airspace. As we have come to expect from the Biden administration, staffers are ignoring these actions as they did the obvious signals in Afghanistan and now Ukraine.
Of the breach, a U.S. Defense official said, “This is not unusual. China has done this in the past a couple months ago [they] had similar type of events regularly.”
With weak to no leadership at the helm in our nation, it puts not only the United States but every freedom-loving country in danger.
Biden allowed Afghanistan to fall. He stood by as Ukraine was invaded, giving a clear signal for China to begin their long-awaited takeover of Taiwan. The United States has been the deterrent of tyrants—until now. The confused Biden has no clue what to do as takeover ensues.
Afghanistan, Canada, Ukraine, Taiwan …
So what’s next?
We are the next prize.
Many of us watched with anticipation and prayer as the Canadian truckers rolled into Ottawa in a peaceful protest against Trudeau’s authoritarian rule. For three weeks, we watched as they faithfully held vigil in freezing temperatures only to be disbanded by Trudeau’s ongoing totalitarian rule. When Trudeau called for the Emergencies Act, he further stripped the liberties of Canadians to give him “legal” access to the protesters’ bank accounts and assets.
Now we watch as the American Convoy for Freedom truckers attempt a similar protest. But something seems very wrong. They first announced their intent in mid-February and now have published their itinerary, which started in California Feb. 23. The convoy will stop in seven states in an 11-day slow march before they reach Washington, D.C., on Mar. 4.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Who announces and publishes their plans in advance to enemy forces? Has this actually turned into an invitation for a declaration of martial law and confiscation of assets? It has certainly given time for the National Guard or, worse yet, the United Nations to step in similar to Trudeau’s crackdown.
Sun Tzu, the masterful Chinese warrior, understood the importance of keeping strategy secret. “Let your plans be dark and as impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt” (Tzu, The Art of War).
The thunderbolt element is long gone.
Obviously whoever is leading the convoy didn’t get that memo. Now we have learned that the Canadian Freedom Convoy was possibly infiltrated at the top by four “leaders.” Perhaps that has happened with the American Convoy. But in any event, something doesn’t smell right.
While I wholeheartedly support peaceful protests and the actions of the Canadian truckers, I also believe we need to use wisdom. With their preemptive announcements and slow march forward, the American Convoy has given Washington, D.C., ample time to put actions in place with police and the National Guard to prevent an effective protest. Are they simply giving Biden’s handlers the very thing they desire, enabling them to call martial law and “legally” grant them greater power in the guise of “protecting” our nation?
Our fight to retain our freedom must not only be courageous but wise and effective. While our first action must always be prayer, we must also proceed with wise counsel, for “in the multitude of counselors, there is safety” (Prov. 11:4b, KJV).
As we watch the convoy inching toward Washington, D.C., may its members receive wise counsel and act on that as we continue to pray for Ukraine, our nation and the world. {eoa}
