Ben Carson Hosting ‘Revive714’ Events in Iowa
Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has launched a series of star-packed events to rally Christian voters to his cause.
The first of those events, called “Revive714,” took place Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa, at the historic Orpheum Theater. It was hosted by Christian actor Kirk Cameron, and included appearances by Casting Crowns, Warren Barfield, Dr. James MacDonald and Dr. Marshall Foster.
“Revive714 is a prayer worship experience aimed at sparking a passion for prayer that our nation so desperately needs,” the Carson campaign says of the events. “America needs the healing touch of God that can only come from a national revival. God’s word tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that when we humble ourselves and seek the face of God, He promises healing.”
During Saturday’s event, the Carson camp also unveiled a behind-the-scenes video in which Cameron talks with the candidate about why he feels prayer is so important at this time. Carson said, in part:
“[Faith] is the foundation of our nation. It’s what distinguishes us from so many others. You know, our money—every coin in your pocket—includes ‘In God We Trust.’ We need to make that more than just a phrase. We need to make it part of who we are.”
The Sioux City event coincided with the annual WinterJam Christian music festival, held there on Friday evening. The next Revive714 is scheduled for Tuesday at Heritage Assembly of God in Des Moines.
Among the “special guests” for that event will be Aaron and Amanda Crabb and Dr. David Jeremiah. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. For free tickets, go to revive714.com.
