Could a Donald Trump-Ben Carson Ticket Win It?
The top two Republican candidates could write their names on a campaign ticket together, front-runner Donald Trump tells CNN.
“You know, we have a very good relationship,” Trump tells the news site. “We’re not as different as people think. But there is certainly a different style. You know, I have great assets and he has some great assets. But we are both resonating, there’s no question about it.”
The real estate mogul’s campaign centers around three major issues: immigration, tax reform and Second Amendment rights. Meanwhile, the retired neurosurgeon focuses on pro-life, education, religious freedom and pro-Israel positions, among others.
Trump and Carson continually top each Republican poll, bringing in a combined 54 percent support from registered GOP voters, according to one ABC poll. In a Quinnipiac University poll, Carson even received 28 percent support compared to Trump’s 20 percent.
Carson has come to Trump’s defense several times during this campaign season.
When Trump appeared to blame former President George W. Bush for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Carson came to his aid: “I would probably ask him what he meant by that. I seriously doubt that he’s saying that—that George W. Bush is to blame for it,” Carson said. “I certainly—I certainly don’t think so.”
In regards to criticism of Trump’s bold immigration comments, Carson said: “It’s the P.C. police out in force. They want to make very clear that this is a topic you’re not supposed to bring up.”
Whether or not the two take the Republican ticket, Trump tells CNN he would “absolutely” make room for Carson in his administration if he were to win.
