10 New Revelations From ‘The Podesta Emails’
Like the dripping faucet its logo implies, WikiLeaks is slowly drowning the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign in its own scandals.
Monday, the organization released another 2,000 documents to its “Podesta Emails” file. Then, Tuesday morning, it dumped 1,000 more. And, it promises even more are yet to come.
So here are 10 more bombshells that have been discovered inside the thousands of pages of documents:
Illegal Coordination—In one email, Clinton campaign staffer Jennifer Palmieri says she is “so afraid” The New York Times was going to publish an article about meetings Clinton had with the super PAC Priorities USA. While the email itself doesn’t suggest anything illegal is happening, a secondary document—a memo—suggests how far the campaign was willing to go to skirt around federal election laws to achieve their end goals.
Hillary’s Hate—In an email with Palmieri in which he is discussing a planned speech script with the Clinton campaign staffer, Podesta wrote, “I know she has begun to hate everyday Americans, but I think we should use it once the first time she says I’m running for president because you and everyday Americans need a champion.”
Chelsea’s Drama—In another email, Clinton insider Doug Band says that “drama” from Chelsea Clinton had driven the Clinton Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer to contemplate taking her own life. Additionally, the foundation’s board chairman was suffering from undisclosed “serious health issues” brought on by the stress from her interactions with the office staff. This apparently led to wholesale changes to how the office operated.
Hillary’s Hypocrisy—During Sunday night’s debate, and in speeches on the campaign trail, Clinton has bashed Donald Trump for his “extreme vetting” proposal for immigrants from areas of the world where terrorism is rampant, and for calling to shut down the Syrian refugee program. Yet in a leaked speech transcript from 2013, Clinton shared those very same concerns.
Extreme Exporter—In the same speech, Clinton also described the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the “No. 1 exporter of extreme ideology” over the past 30 years. She said this was a direct response to the rise in the Middle East of the Muslim Brotherhood, which she said the Saudis feared.
Funding ISIS—In another email to Podesta, now her campaign chairman, dated August of 2014, Clinton said Saudi Arabia and Qatar were “providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region.” She urged the U.S. to “use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure” on those nations’ governments.
Hillary’s Health—In an email discussion with a Clinton campaign staffer, Podesta himself said, “Hard to think of anything more counter productive than demanding Bernie’s medical records.” Clinton’s own health issues have become a major issue of the campaign following a series of coughing fits first attributed to allergies and then pneumonia, and a very public collapse at the 9/11 memorial service in New York City.
Often Lies—In another leaked email from during the current presidential campaign cycle, left-wing columnist Brent Budowski told Podesta “Hillary should stop attacking Bernie, especially when she says things that are untrue, which candidly she often does.” He said it damages her credibility with liberal voters.
Bill’s Infidelity—In that same email, Budowski said he had conversations with someone in media—someone Podesta would know—who said there were people within the Clinton campaign who were openly talking about how Bill Clinton’s infidelity “could be damaging” to Hillary.
Comrade Sanders—High-level Clinton aide Jake Sullivan mocked supporters of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) who were campaigning for a $15 minimum wage as “the Red Army” in another leaked email in which he was critical of Podesta.
