For Hillary Clinton, This Is the Worst Sort of News
With the news that early voters who have already cast ballots in the 2016 presidential election—in the seven states that allow it—Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is getting the worst sort of news possible after the FBI announced it was reopening its investigation into her private email server.
People in those states—Connecticut, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin—are reportedly changing their votes. And while it’s entirely possible some of them are Donald Trump voters, plausibility is an entirely different story.
It’s not happening in big numbers, but just the fact that it’s happening at all is unprecedented. The Political Insider blog has data from Google Analytics that shows the spike in searches for “Change Early Vote?”
According to that report:
Immediately after the FBI announcement, people went onto Google and searched directions for changing their early vote … Which Google searches are associated with the search phrase, “Change Early Vote?” Here it is:
-
- Federal Bureau of Investigation
- James Comey – Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Huma Abedin – Political figure
- Anthony Weiner – Former U.S. Representative
That means anyone searching for directions to change their early vote was trying to vote for Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton.
