This Is a Number Hillary Clinton Definitely Doesn’t Want You to See
In the latest poll from NBC News and Survey Monkey, Hillary Clinton is maintaining a 6-point lead over Donald Trump, but it’s the underlying numbers that should be cause for concern for the Democratic presidential nominee.
According to the poll of 15,179 registered voters, only 11 percent overall said they found her to be “honest and truthworthy.” The poll also broke the numbers down by political affiliation; not surprisingly, almost no Republicans believe she is either honest or trustworthy.
Independents are only slightly more inclined to believe Clinton is honest—2 percent of those polled said they believe her. But, shockingly, only 12 percent of those polled say they find her to be either honest or trustworthy.
The numbers in the poll, which was conducted online, suggest a significant oversampling of Democrats and/or independent voters. While that helps Hillary overall—93 percent of Democrats and 68 percent of independents polled said they just don’t like Donald Trump at all—it doesn’t help her truthworthiness score.
“These results come after 50 Republican national security advisers issued a letter stating that none of them would vote for the Republican candidate because he lacks the character and experience to be president,” the poll report states. “These numbers indicate that the post-convention bounce for Clinton is more likely a shift in the race. Her lead has been nearly unchanged for the past three weeks. Still, voters don’t feel particularly positive about their general election choices.”
