Univision Owner: ‘Let’s Not Allow Them to Steal the Jewish Vote’
The owner of Univision, Haim Saban, is concerned Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton may actually lose the Jewish vote in November.
Among the thousands of emails released this week by WikiLeaks, one written by the media mogul in June of 2015 urged the Clinton campaign not to let “them” steal the Jewish vote. It was actually written in response to a campaign statement made by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in which he pledged to “do whatever it takes to help the people of Israel survive and prosper as a Jewish state.”
In the email, Saban lays out a plan in which Clinton can “differentiate” herself from President Obama without criticizing him in an effort to win back the 11 percent of Jewish voters lost to Republicans in the 20 years from 1992 to 2012. The proposals included:
- “speak strongly against anti-Semitism and boycott,”
- “reaffirm the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security,” and
- “anything else your research tells you the Jewish community is sensitive to.”
“This is NOT a NY or California issue … it is a Florida one,” he wrote. “Pls LMK (let me know) how I can help here.”
It would seem Clinton largely followed his advice. But the email—and many others like it—is further proof of how the liberal mainstream media’s bias has morphed from distorted framing of questions and answers to full-blown collusion with the Democratic nominee’s campaign.
