Chris Christie and The Donald: Defund Planned Parenthood
Donald Trump and Chris Christie have joined the growing number of Americans who say Planned Parenthood should be defunded. The nation’s largest abortion provider came under fire after undercover videos show its national leaders casually discussing how to harvest, then sell, the organs and body tissue of aborted babies. he way that woman’s eating her salad … she’s eating her salad and … it’s just disgusting,” Trump told Dana Loesch of The Blaze TV. “It’s so cavalier and so horrible. I just thought it was incredible.” “It’s disgusting and absolutely they should be defunded,” Trump said. (Story continues following video.)The Donald — who is by far the most popular Republican presidential candidate according to recent polls — just joined every other Republican candidate, except George Pataki, in supporting the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks nationwide. Trump told CBN’s David Brody, “I support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and urge Congress to pass this bill. A ban on elective abortions after 20 weeks will protect unborn children. We should not be one of seven countries that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks. It goes against our core values.” At the other end of those polls is New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who also vowed to defund the abortion giant during a campaign event on Monday in South Carolina. I defunded Planned Parenthood in New Jersey six years ago we’ve defunded it every year for the last six years,” he said. Democrats tried to fund Planned Parenthood in bills for six years, plus two supplemental spending bills. “Eight different times, I’ve vetoed funding for Planned Parenthood and if I were president of the United States I would do exactly the same,” he said. Christie is not currently polling in the top 10 of the 16 declared Republican presidential hopefuls.
