Hillary Clinton’s Pastor’s Book Pulled From Shelves for Plagiarism

Rev. Bill Shillady, who recently made headlines with the release of his book, The Daily Devotions of Hillary Rodham Clinton, is in the news again. Only this time, the news isn’t so good from his publisher, Abingdon Press.

Abingdon has announced it has pulled the book from the shelves after it was discovered Shillady had plagiarized several passages. Publishersmarketplace.com reported that Abingdon conducted “an extensive review” after an initial example of copying was found by CNN and that Abingdon was “alarmed to discover other content unattributed by the author.”

“Abingdon Press has zero tolerance for plagiarism,” said Rev. Brian Milford, president and publisher of the United Methodist publishing house. “Consequently, we have discontinued sales, will remove existing copies from all sales outlets and will have them destroyed along with our existing inventory.”

Shillady promptly apologized for the plagiarism.

“I deeply regret my actions,” Shillady said. “I was wrong and there is no excuse for it. I apologize to those whose work I mistakenly did not attribute. I apologize to those I have disappointed, including Secretary Hillary Clinton, Abingdon Press and all the writers and others who have helped me publish and promote this book. I ask for everyone’s forgiveness.” {eoa}
