Is There Anything Vice President Pence Can’t Do?

In the relatively short span since the Nov. 8 election last fall, Vice President Mike Pence has worn a lot of hats.

First, before he was even sworn into office, he served as the chairman of President Donald Trump’s transition team. Then, on Jan. 20, he assumed his constitutional roles as vice president of the United States and president of the United States Senate. As the latter, he’s also already cast a tie-breaking vote to confirm Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’ nomination.

The vice president has already taken his first foreign trip. And, he’s spoken with dozens of world leaders on behalf of the Trump administration.

But among the many different duties he performs, no one could have imagined what he did Saturday night.

That’s when Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin married Scottish-born actress Louise Linton during a ceremony held at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium. The guest list included a who’s who of Washington, D.C., Wall Street and Hollywood—including the president, the vice president, First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence.

But the vice president wasn’t just there as a guest. He was front and center, serving as the officiant of the ceremony.

The ceremony was meant to have been done secretly to avoid the press, but Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross accidentally let it slip last week during a press conference. Media were not allowed inside the event. {eoa}
