Kim Dotcom Breaks His Silence to Address Hacking Rumors

Share:

Well, that didn’t take long.

Less than 48 hours after vowing to remain silent about the Seth Rich murder investigation and what he knows about the DNC staffer’s connections to WikiLeaks, the “internet entrepreneur,” Kim Dotcom, released an open letter that was, effectively a cease-and-desist demand. He said he was troubled by Rich’s family’s efforts to discredit him and his evidence before investigators even had a chance to review it.

The letter was published Thursday in the International Business Times UK edition. It states, in part:

This request is made in the spirit of us constructively moving forward and allowing the investigation into the DNC leak to progress without delay so that there can be an informed decision on whether it had any involvement in Mr Rich’s death, as many fear.

However, if these statements do not cease, it will be necessary for me to take further action. It is ironic that the family complain of others potentially making statements that they fear (without actually knowing) will be incorrect and then make incorrect statements about me themselves.

I remain prepared to assist in the investigation, as I have said. While I want to show understanding to the family in this difficult time, I also maintain that what I have said is true and will be substantiated upon investigation. While that may be difficult for the family to accept, in time I expect it to play a valuable part in revealing the truth. However, that is a matter for the current investigation. I simply wish to make sure that the investigators have the benefit of my evidence.

I have said that I will share what I know, and why, with the relevant authorities if the appropriate arrangements can be made. That is what I understand from our communications the family also want. The family, once fully informed, can then make up their own mind, as will the investigation. However, that will not happen by ignoring the evidence of witnesses like me who are prepared to speak up, or by seeking to discredit such witnesses by pre-emptively attacking their credibility. I simply ask that the family listen, before attacking.

Rich’s family, though a spokesman with direct ties to the Democratic National Committee, has suggested Dotcom attempted to hack into their son’s email account in order to plant evidence. They’ve also suggested the New Zealander has been shopping an assortment of conspiracy theories in the media.

Dotcom denied all of these allegations and challenged the Rich family to produce evidence of their claims, if they have any, so that they might be quickly and publicly responded to. Click here to read the entire letter.

This newest development comes on the heels of two new reports, one of which suggested the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department has effectively shut down its investigation into the murder case. World Net Daily reports at least one relevant witness has never been contacted:

A manager of the Washington, D.C., bar where Democratic National Committee worker Seth Rich was last spotted hours before he was shot and killed last summer told WND that D.C. police officers never interviewed the bar’s staff or requested any evidence from the bar, including the bar’s surveillance video from that night, as part of an investigation into Rich’s murder.

The revelation backs up a claim made by a private investigator who worked on the case who said D.C. police were told to “stand down” on the investigation.

WND also can report that the investigator recently was ordered to “cease and desist” his work on the murder case.

“The police never asked for the surveillance video from that night,” a manager of Lou’s City Bar told WND.

His name is being withheld for this story.

He said the bar’s surveillance video runs in a cycle of 30 days and that, by now, any footage that may have existed of Rich the last night he was seen alive has been taped over.

Furthermore, the manager said police never asked for any other kind of evidence from the bar such as Rich’s bar receipt from that night. The manager did note he wasn’t sure if Rich paid using a credit card or cash.

Additionally, Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with DCMPD and the D.C. mayor’s office requesting information relating to the Rich murder investigation. The government watchdog group had already requested similar information from the FBI. {eoa}
