Liberals Love Hillary Clinton’s Latest Campaign Video
The latest campaign video for Hillary Clinton, Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State, opens with the words, “The fight over LGBT equality is not over.”
As a voiceover from a previous campaign speech plays—in which she says “gay rights and human rights … they are one and the same”—the scene changes to two men walking hand-in-hand. It soon changes to two men kissing, followed by two women kissing.
The 69-second video, released by the Clinton campaign on Sunday, drew high praise from liberals, as expressed by Slate’s LGBTQ reporter, Mark Joseph Stern, who wrote:
“Given the distressingly puritanical rules that govern gay PDAs, it’s both impressive and heartening that Clinton includes gay kisses in her official campaign spots. The ad forces viewers to confront images that might make them feel slightly uneasy, then encourages them to view such affection as a normal, healthy manifestation of adult intimacy.”
Stern also noted Clinton’s long-term record on the issue, which Michelle Fields of Breitbart.com fully addresses. She noted that Clinton did not come out in favor of same-sex marriage until 2013.
