Report: Conservative Leaders Demand This Official be Fired During White House Meeting
Paul Teller, President Donald Trump’s liaison with conservative groups, hastily convened a meeting with leaders of those groups Thursday to try to head off what could be a disastrous civil war between them and the White House.
The meeting was held behind closed doors, meaning the media wasn’t allowed to even get a peek at the proceedings. That, of course, means someone spilled the beans about what was said, and The Daily Caller reported on that Friday morning.
While the broad consensus was that remaining Obama appointees in government needed to be cleaned out to help further the president’s agenda, one government official in particular was singled out: IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. As The DC’s associate editor, Peter Hasson, reported:
An off-the-record White House meeting with roughly two dozen conservative leaders Wednesday included explicit calls for President Trump to fire IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, according to a source in the room.
White House conservative liaison Paul Teller organized the meeting Wednesday between Trump staffers and leaders of conservative groups such as the Heritage Foundation and Judicial Watch.
Talk of Koskinen’s firing was part of a larger discussion on clearing out Obama-era personnel from the executive branch where possible, the source said.
