Republican Jewish Coalition Attacks DNC’s Links to BDS
To many Americans, the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is both special and inviolable.
That’s why the Republican Jewish Coalition recently launched a new advertising campaign to highlight the fact there are anti-Israel views now represented on the Democratic Party’s platform committee. And those “voices” are lending an ear to the Boycott-Divestment-Sanction Movement.
According to Politico, the ad campaign claims that all three of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ picks for the committee—Arab-American activist James Zogby, “public intellectual” Cornel West, and U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the first Muslim elected to Congress—are “stridently anti-Israel” and radical members of the American Left. The ads declare, “This isn’t the old Democratic Party,” and feature images of Hillary Clinton, the party’s presidential nominee-in-waiting.
The Clinton campaign, however, insists the final platform will be reflective of their candidate’s views, not necessarily Sanders’. And the National Jewish Democratic Council has accused the RJC of “deflecting” attention away from Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting Donald Trump, who it accuses of being inconsistent in his support of Israel.
