This Candidate Schooled the Supreme Court on Marriage in Just Three Sentences
The nine justices of the Supreme Court have waded through hundreds or thousands of pages of legal briefs as they prepare to rule on same-sex “marriage” this month. Apparently, Mike Huckabee didn’t want to put too much stress on them – or their clerks, who actually do most of the reading. So, he sent them a message that is just three sentences long:
As you work towards making your ruling at the end of June, I am writing today to tell you marriage is between one man and one woman. Period. The Supreme Court is not the Supreme Being.
The former pastor’s words came as the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest evangelical denomination, passed a resolution at its annual convention affirming that “Southern Baptists recognize that no governing institution has the authority to negate or usurp God’s definition of marriage” and “no matter how the Supreme Court rules, the Southern Baptist Convention reaffirms its unwavering commitment to its doctrinal and public beliefs concerning marriage.” Huckabee’s version is more succinct.
