Trump-Supporting Pastor: We Have a Chance to Make the Church Great Again
In a recent social media post, a pastor who had supported President-elect Donald Trump in the election wrote about how the results of the election were the work of God, and how this offers an opportunity for the church to become great again, as well.
Pastor Carl Gallups is a talk radio host and the founder of PNN News and Ministry Network. He also is a best-selling author who recently wrote When the Lion Roars. He recently wrote on his Facebook page the following commentary about the outcome of the 2016 election and what it means for the Christian church:
Why did the mainstream media, the pollsters, the liberal pundits, the socialists, communists, terrorists, illegal immigrants, America haters, Constitution-bashers, culture of abortion-death people, establishment elite politicians (both Republican and Democrat), the haters of Israel, and the vast majority of college students and professors miss the Trump factor? How could so many have been so wrong?
After all, the evidence was before their eyes. Everywhere one looked, it was easy to see tens of thousands of people showing up for Trump rallies all across America, even in “liberal” states and cities. Yet Hillary could barely draw a high-school-play-sized crowd, even in liberal cities and states.
The Beginning of the Fall:
They closed their eyes, hearts and minds to what was actually right before their eyes. The word is called “ignorance” in its purest form. I’m not talking about the way we most often use the word, i.e., uneducated or stupid. No, I mean “the act of ignoring what is right in front of your face”—”ignore” and “ance.”
In short, the above mentioned people (largely) ignored the God factor. This was a spiritually charged election from beginning to end. During the primaries, Trump walked through powerhouse politicians, including the Bush family, to make it to the general election against all human odds. Then he swept the Electoral College with a stunning landslide defeat of the Clinton regime and the insanely powerful political elites as well as the mainstream media that were shamelessly plugging her at every moment of every day.
How could Trump have overcome the impossible odds? How could he have pulled off such an unexplained victory? How could so many people have missed the whole affair so badly?
What Happened?
The answer is: the church, the people of God. Fervent, soul-searching, repentant prayer, 2 Chronicles 7:14 style! It was happening all across America. Many of us understood what was at stake, especially in these profoundly prophetic times in which we are living. God laid before us “life and prosperity, death and destruction” (Deut. 30).
We chose life, and we prayed Abraham’s prayer over Sodom and Gomorrah: “Lord, if there are 50 righteous left among us, would You spare us?” And we continued, “Would you give us some breathing room so that we can continue to take the gospel to the world?” The Lord heard our prayers, He answered from heaven, and He said, “Yes.”
I have said from the beginning, “Donald Trump is not America’s ‘savior.'” And it still remains to be seen what kind of president he will really turn out to be. But that was not the point, the point was that we knew with Hillary the nation was in for death and destruction. She had a 30-year record of it. We needed a “wrecking ball.” We needed a touch of grace and mercy from heaven.
Once again, we have been miraculously touched and spared by God’s gracious hand. Remember the miraculous accounts of the Revolutionary War? Well, my brothers and sisters, you have just lived those same kinds of miraculous interventions. This is the stuff of history. This is the stuff of heaven.
Why did they miss it? Because they left out the power of the God, whom most of them reject flat out. Perhaps they will rethink their eternal position with the soon coming Jesus Christ. That is my prayer anyway.
America has a lot of work to do. We have a lot of house-cleaning to accomplish. We arrived here over the last 100 years, beginning with the legalized teaching to America’s future generations that we are nothing more than souped-up gorillas and that there is no intelligent Designer. From that foundational lie followed the abortion holocaust, sexual depravity, gay marriage, racial divides and abject secularism, making us ripe for a hard, hard fall. And many of those generationalized brainwashed “children” are now grown up and leading our nation through courts, congress, lawyers’ offices, schools, law enforcement, military, entertainment industry, media industry, churches and government offices.
We won’t clean this mess up over night. We have plenty of matters of uniting and healing to do as well. I don’t know how much, if any, of this can be accomplished. We may be too close to the end. We may have come too far down the road of rebellion. We shall see. All I do know is that God has answered the prayer of His people, and now, we have one more chance to do the main thing.
Now it’s time to make the church great again!
