California Schoolchildren Exposed to Secularism’s Sacrament: Sex Education
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Secularism is a religion — just like Christianity — and secularists are imposing their religion on America. President Obama, Obama administration personnel, five unelected justices of the U.S. Supreme Court and many others may be best described as secularist idolaters. The problem is an old one, as old as the human heart. Peter J. Leithart wrote in a survey of I and II Kings:
Indifference to idolatry has its roots in the early modern period. According to a common telling of the story, Europeans discovered that theology was bloodily divisive and concluded that the only way to restore comparative harmony was to expunge theology from the public square, forcing theological decision and debate into the recesses of the conscience or, at best, safely behind the walls of the church. Christian capitulation to secular politics — more the rule than the exception in the modern church — in nothing less than apostasy, a denial of the gospel that announces Jesus as Lord.
K.T. Aitken also wrote, “When the wicked are in power and control the affairs of state, violence and injustice are actively encouraged and flourish unchecked (29:16), and the people groan under an intolerable burden of oppression and make themselves scarce for fear of life and limb.” Almost as if to verify this, in California teachers have chosen “Your Health Today” to distribute secularism’s sacraments to 9th graders: “almost 400 pages long and among the subject includes information on bondage, orgasms, vibrators, along with explicit drawings and diagrams.” The text also describes how to buy and use condoms and addresses masturbation, binge-drinking and shows sex organs in various stages of arousal. “Our high-school students today need all the tools they can have to arm themselves to make the best- informed decision,” said the school district’s board president, Lara Calvert-York. Teachers from the district unanimously chose the book to incorporate in classes.” Somebody’s values are going to reign supreme. We must bring our values to the public square. We need a Gideon or Rahab the Harlot to stand.
