Why Believers Must Support and Stand Firm With the Freedom Convoy Movement
The Freedom Convoy, which made worldwide headlines to protest what many have called massive injustices in Canada, was broken up by police this past week and weekend, but not before getting its message clear to lawmakers—people are not going to sit idly by and let government roll over them.
And, it has inspired many in other countries to take up the cause against government overreach.
Led and sustained by believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, over 50,000 strong, truckers in Canada made a stand to put an end to outlandish mandates. Before many were arrested, their voices were heard in the capital of Ottawa with the occupation of the capitol building and a barricade blocking the Canadian US border.
Cheered on by massive crowds on their trans-continental journey, the movement has rallied similar response in the U.S. and other countries as free citizens finally begin to stand up with the U.S. Convoy, preparing to travel from California to Washington D.C.
“We are here until all mandates are dropped” said one participant in Ottawa. “We were talking to one of our fellow truckers who came from another country who said he had come 30 years ago to seek freedom and will not allow this country to become like the one he had left.”
Feckless Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau escaped the capitol last week and gave a press conference from an undisclosed location in hiding, saying:
“I have attended protests and rallies in the past. When I agreed with the goals, when I supported the people expressing their concerns and their issues, Black Lives Matter is an excellent example of that, but I have also chosen to not go anywhere near protests that have expressed hateful rhetoric, violence toward fellow citizens. And a disrespect, not just of science, but of the frontline health workers and quite frankly, the 90% of truckers who have been doing the right thing to keep Canadians safe, to put food on our tables. Canadians know where I stand. This is a moment for responsible leaders to think carefully about where they stand and who they stand with.”
Those who continue to believe in freedom are encouraged to visit thepeoplesconvoy.org to stay updated on this noble cause.
So, who are these people? The website says they are “truckers, moms, students, nurses, doctors, investors, county workers, teachers, cowboys, loggers, engineers, sanitation workers, professors, cashiers, flight attendants, pilots, sales reps and physical therapists, among others.”
And what is their declaration? The website says: “We the People of the United States, in Order to restore our once perfect Union, re-establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense of all, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty, do ordain and establish the restoration movement of The People’s Convoy for the United States of America.
“We demand the declaration of national emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic be lifted immediately and our cherished constitution reign supreme. We are the people of the United States of America and we stand together under the banner of freedom, which is the one thing that unites us all. Liberty flows through all of our veins.”
Believers must band together in prayer and ask God to intervene in this noble cause for freedom. {eoa}
