Politicians Put Aside Divisions to Lift Fellow Congressman Up in Prayer
While some may believe a “thoughts and prayers” comment may be trite, the Bible teaches us our words have power.
Jeremiah 33:3 proclaims: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”
As surgeons perform emergency surgery on Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., dozens of his fellow Congressmen are lifting him up in the name of Jesus.
Here’s what some of them are saying:
“America is praying for you and America is praying for all of the victims,” President Donald Trump.
“Karen & I are praying for @SteveScalise, the Capitol Police, & all hurt for a speedy recovery. Our hearts are with them & their loved ones,” Vice President Mike Pence.
“Saddened by news of the shooting in VA this am. Thoughts & prayers for Rep @SteveScalise & others injured & hope for a speedy recovery,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY.

“We’re praying together now in Capitol for colleagues, staff, Capitol Police, families & all affected by senseless shooting. Please join us,” Rep. Randy Hultgren, R- Ill.
“Thoughts & prayers are with all of my colleagues & staff at this morning’s practice. Thank you to @CapitolPolice responding on the scene,” Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md.
