Tony Perkins: FRC to Encourage Evangelical Voters in 20 States
Saturday, during the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., Family Research Council President Tony Perkins held a press conference to announce a nationwide effort to encourage Christians to vote in November.
The Values Bus Tour will focus on turning out the Christian vote in key battleground states, one of the main factors many faith leaders point out resulted in President Obama securing a second term in 2012. He and Republican presidential nominee former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney were separated by less than 350,000 in the four key battleground states that could have swung the election.
The goal is to mobilize “values voters” in an effort to “preserve the bedrock values of religious freedom, sanctity of life, natural marriage and limited government that make our nation strong.” FRC put out the following statement announcing the tour last week:
Family Research Council Action is hosting a coast-to-coast “Values Bus” tour in over 20 states encouraging pro-family voters to vote their values when casting their ballot on November 8. The bus tour will also make stops in every county in North Carolina.
Whether federal, state or local, there are a great many races across the nation this year and the outcomes will have a tremendous impact on the future of faith, family and freedom in America. The theme of the bus tour is “Your Values, Your Vote, Your Future.”
The multi-state bus tour will include speakers such as FRC Action’s President Tony Perkins and FRC Action PAC endorsed candidates. The bus tour will kick off right after the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., of which FRC Action is a co-sponsor.
FRC Action will be active on social media with their handle @FRCAction throughout the tour and using the hashtag: #valuesbus. A tentative schedule is listed below and subject to change. For the latest on confirmed bus tour stops, please visit ValuesBusTour.com.
Concerned Women For America is co-sponsoring the tour.
