Michael Moore Recruiting Social Media Army to Target Donald Trump
That liberals don’t much like Donald Trump almost goes without saying, but documentary filmmaker Michael Moore takes his disdain to whole new level.
Mere hours after spending an evening outside RNC headquarters in Washington, D.C., singing Trump-themed “Christmas carols” and praising The New York Daily News for publishing a depiction of the Republican front-runner beheading the Statue of Liberty, Moore took up a new cause last week. He wants to get Trump banned from Facebook.
“Facebook prohibits all its users from using hate speech on its site (‘You will not post content that is hate speech’),” he wrote in a social media post. “I’m joining others today in filing a complaint with Facebook that Trump’s Facebook page is using hate speech to promote racism and bigotry. Please file your complaint, too. Here’s how: Go to Trump’s page facebook.com/DonaldTrump. Click ‘Report’. Then click ‘It shouldn’t be on FB’. Then click ‘Hate Speech’. Then click either ‘race or ethnicity’ or ‘religious group’. That’s it. Let’s get a few million doing this by the end of the day!”
The post has received nearly 50,000 likes, and has been shared more than 37,000 times (Moore has nearly 1.3 million followers on Facebook). But it also prompted questions from other Facebook users who questioned why Moore would want to censor another person’s speech.
The Daily News reported that while hate speech is prohibited, Facebook’s rules protect posts that challenge ideas, institutions and practices. “Such discussion can promote debate and greater understanding.”
Breitbart News notes this is just part of a growing fixation Moore has developed regarding Trump.
