Dolly Parton’s ‘I Still Believe’ Performance Heralds Miracle-Working Hope in Jesus
Dolly Parton’s A Holly Dolly Christmas aired on CBS Dec. 6, featuring a socially distanced choir and an hour’s worth of the best of Parton’s Christmas songs, many of which appear on her newest album of the same name.
The country gospel sensation’s final track of the evening, “I Still Believe,” tells of the great hope that can be found even during the most challenging of times. Parton believes, to her very core, “in our darkest hour there’s a light so bright it can melt away hate and grief.”
The lyrics to the moving song remind listeners of God’s promises:
“You know our hearts, you know your needs/ You see our fear, you hear our pleas/ We come to you on bending knees, through it all/ I still believe.”
And as a testament to her strong faith and the hope for a brighter future, Parton sings, “I believe in miracles and that we’ll soon see one.”
