Christian artist Michael W. Smith paid tribute to his friend, former President George H.W. Bush, at Bush’s funeral last Wednesday. Smith performed Bush’s favorite song by him, “Friends,” accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus, Cathedral Choir and U.S. Marine Orchestra.

Smith was a close friend of the former president, who was reportedly a fan of Smith’s music. They first met after Smith performed for him in 1989, and they became good friends after that. They were particularly connected by their mutual friendship with Billy Graham. Watch the touching live performance here.
