WATCH: New Film Tells Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ Story in His Own Words
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas remains a controversial political figure. But a new movie highlighting his story doesn’t shy away from the conflict.
A trailer for Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words was released Jan. 20 and teases the movie’s depiction of Thomas’ personal story.
The trailer briefly touches on a moment in Thomas’ life when he was tired of being filled with rage. Thomas, whose childhood was filled with poverty and hunger, later on in his youth went to seminary and all-white schools, but he says he never felt like he truly belonged.
“I was never going to be a part of that world,” Thomas says in the trailer. “I was never going to be white. The problem is I could never go back completely to the world I came from.”
Thomas shares openly about this tension in Created Equal as well as the sexual harassment claims Anita Hill brought against him in 1991.
