Redemption Church Pastor Ron Carpenter officially transitioned out of his role as senior pastor and handed the reins over to John Gray, who will pastor the newly named Relentless Church.

“I sought God, and God said, ‘I want you to speak the Word over the new pastors,'” Carpenter says from the pulpit.

Gray came to South Carolina from Houston, Texas, where he worked on Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church staff. In the video, Carpenter hands Gray the key that will unlock every door on the South Carolina church campus.

Carpenter will be taking over Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California. Dick Bernal founded the Jubilee Center more than 30 years ago and is now retiring.

Carpenter says the Lord specifically told him how he and the congregation should pray over Gray, whose first official Sunday at Relentless Church will be Mother’s Day, May 13.
