Churchgoers walk outside the Crystal Cathedral megachurch following a church service in Garden Grove, Calif., Sunday. The megachurch has been undergoing a crisis of leadership succession and financial problems. On Sunday, about 1,400 worshippers attended English-language morning services at the cathedral, compared to about 600 when former Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman led the services, said Crystal Cathedral Executive Pastor Bill Bennett. Robert H. Schuller’s daughter quit last week, one day after her parents resigned from the board following the megaministry’s dismissal of three other relatives. Guest Minister Lawrence Wilkes preached the first service after Coleman’s departure.
