‘Canceled’ Former Texas AG Chaplain Fights for First Amendment Rights

The demonic forces behind “cancel culture” are working hard to target one former Austin, Texas Fire Department chaplain for standing up for his Christian values.

Dr. Andrew Fox isn’t succumbing to the pressures around him. Fox is fighting back after he was fired last year for sharing biblical truth on a blog on his website.

Fox, an ordained Assemblies of God minister, started a chaplaincy program at the Austin Fire Department from the ground up. He counseled and supported firefighters and their families for eight years, before he was let go for sharing his Christian beliefs on a blog unassociated with the department.

In June of 2021, Fox wrote the blog expressing his disagreement with biological males identifying as female and playing in women’s sports. As a leader and teacher in the church, Fox highlighted biblical statements about the biological distinction between men and women.

According to lawyers with Alliance Defending Freedom, Fox was asked to meet with the Austin Fire Department’s assistant chief, who in turn told Fox that some LGBT members of the department were offended by his post.

The chaplain was reportedly asked to write an apology letter about the blog he made on his own time. ADF says Fox wrote a letter instead expressing his heart and intent behind the matter, “without violating his conscience.”

Fox’s draft was rejected by the department—and because of his refusal to comply with their ideology, he was dismissed.

Now, Fox’s lawyers are fighting for his religious beliefs and the alleged violation of his First Amendment rights. “A government that can coerce and silence someone because it doesn’t like his beliefs has unlimited power,” ADF says.

Colossians 2:8 says, “Beware lest anyone captivate you through philosophy and vain deceit, in the tradition of men and the elementary principles of the world, and not after Christ.”

As a teacher and ordained minister, Fox stood up for the biblical principles that the left is attempting to tear down through fear-based tactics.

Alliance Defending Freedom is seeking that the city immediately reinstate Fox as the chaplain so he can continue the work he spent years building God’s ministry for the Austin City Fire Department. {eoa}
