One Critical Error Some Pastors Tragically Make

Pastor Jon Bunn says that one critical error some pastors make is failing to shepherd younger staff under them who are aspiring to become pastors too.

“There are so many who are young, who are looking for relationships, open doors or stepping stones into their personal destiny,” Bunn says. “And the tragedy that I see is that for fear of losing popularity, control, notoriety or influence, current leaders are reluctant to yield time to actually sit and listen to their spiritual sons and daughters who are ministering under them. …

“Typically, the younger staff member will only get to fill the pulpit when the pastor is on vacation or the pastor’s sick, and there’s oftentimes … no listening to that or feedback to that from the pastor when they were gone. And I want to see a generation of leaders recognize current leaders and recognize that their greatest strength is yielding their time.”

Pastors need to be united with their staff in relationship, not just delegating tasks to them, he says on the Be the Sign podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network.
