Should Christians Celebrate Halloween? Mark Driscoll Answers

What do you do for Halloween?

When it comes to Halloween, many Christians are divided on whether to—or how to—celebrate a holiday with roots in the occult.

The questions seem endless. While you personally may not celebrate the popular holiday, should you let your kids dress up? Should you answer the door for trick-or-treaters? Should you attend a fall festival or another Halloween alternative?

Pastor Mark Driscoll says there are three responses Christians can have: Reject, receive or redeem.

“There are some things that God’s people can receive,” Driscoll says. “They’re fully compatible with Christian faith, things that we find in culture. There are other things that we must reject. They just are not compatible with Christianity. There are other things we can redeem. We don’t have to reject them, but we don’t have to do them the way non-Christians do them. There may be a way we can redeem them and do them in a way that glorifies God and is for our good.”
