Isaiah 40:8 Stands True as Bible Proves Indestructible in Disaster
Fire cannot extinguish God’s Word, quite literally. A car fire proved yet again that Bibles are enduring, fulfilling of Isaiah 40:8.
In the most recent example, flames overwhelmed a vehicle in South Carolina and nearly reached local homes. When firefighters went to investigate, all that remained was a Bible.
“It makes you stop and think. It gets you in your heart and makes you think about what’s going on at the time,” Gaffney Fire Chief James Caggiano said.
“Family bibles … A lot of times people want those, and we’ll go back in and get them. You’ll see them charred around the edges, the cover will be charred, the bottom will be charred, but the contents will still be in good shape,” Caggiano continued.
Bibles have survived other trials by fire, as well. One copy of the Word of God was the only remnant save for a few photographs in a destroyed home in Tennessee.
In another car fire earlier this year, a Bible was barely licked when the flames devastated the vehicle and sent the driver to the hospital.
“That is God. If you don’t believe it. I don’t know what to say,” witness Eugene McNeil said.
