Editor’s Note: Charisma News could not find official court documents regarding this case.

The divorce from his first wife was not final before a megachurch pastor reportedly married two more women, according to multiple reports.

Cornelius Davis has taken a leave of absence from Hope United Methodist Church following reports of bigamy—with some allegations stemming from his own family members.

“He’s lied and neglected and abandoned his family only to go on and marry two more times,” son Trade Stevens tells the Detroit Free Press. “He needs to be accountable for his actions.”

Davis’ daughter, Karisha Davis, tells the DFP she wants the truth to be known about her father.

“This man’s gotten off scot-free forever,” she says.

Patch.com reports Davis was married twice before his current union with Lela Brown-Davis. Davis’ first wife was not named in the article. His second wife, Jaletta Davis, filed for an official divorce in July, but died before the case could be processed.

In a letter to his congregation, Davis maintains he believed the divorce was final before proceeding with other marriages.

However, DFP cites a court filing in which Davis confirmed he and Jaletta Davis had never divorced.

The pastor claims, “Rhythm and blues got the best of me. My faith compels me to face this matter honestly, and I began to take steps to care for this situation.”
