Pelosi Receives Unauthorized Services at Shuttered San Francisco Salon
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi violated local ordinances regarding the coronavirus pandemic and visited a hair salon in San Francisco Monday night for a shampoo and blow-out, Fox News reports. The outlet obtained security footage that showed the House’s top Democratic walking through eSalon, hair wet and without a mask covering her nose and mouth.
The video also shows the stylist who did her hair following Pelosi wearing a black face mask. California salons, closed since March, were only allowed to reopen Sept. 1 for outdoor styling services only.
Salon owner Erica Kious, who rents salon chairs to independent stylists, shared details of Pelosi’s visit with Fox News. The outlet’s screengrab of the text message said: “I’ll be there at 2:45 tomorrow. Pelosi assistant just messaged me to do her hair.”
“It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work,” Kious told Fox. “We’re supposed to look up to this woman, right?” she said. “It was just disturbing.”
“I have been fighting for six months for a business that took me 12 years to build to reopen,” Kious added. “I am a single mom, I have two small children, and I have no income.”
A spokesman for Pelosi told Fox that the speaker was cooperating with the coronavirus guidelines as presented to her, but Kious said this was not the case. The salon owner said Pelosi received a shampoo and blow-dry in a season where, according to the coronavirus regulations, “You’re not supposed to blow-dry hair.”
“The fact that they did this, and she came in, it’s like a slap in the face,” Kious added. {eoa}
