Nigel Farage: ‘If I Was an American Citizen, I Wouldn’t Vote for Hillary If You Paid Me’
During a rally Wednesday evening in front of 10,000 Donald Trump supporters in Jackson, Miss., “Mr. Brexit,” Nigel Farage, explained why it would be inappropriate for him to tell Americans how to vote in November.
“Now, the big card—the big card the prime minister decided to play in the referendum is he got a foreign visitor to come to London to talk to us,” he said. “Yes, we were visited by one Barack Obama, and he talked down to us. He treated us as if we were nothing—one of the oldest functioning democracies in the world and here he was telling us to vote remain. So, I having criticized … and condemned his behavior, I could not possibly tell you how you should vote in this election.”
The crowd began chanting “Trump! Trump! Trump!” prompting Farage to say, “I get it.” But rather than give an official endorsement to the Republican presidential nominee, the founder of the United Kingdom Independence Party instead addressed the issue from another direction—and “dropped the mic” anyway.
“I will say this: If I was an American citizen I wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton if you paid me,” he said. “In fact, I wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton if she paid me.”
Farage told the crowd that if the people the big banks, globalists and career politicians talk down to—”the little people,” or as he put it, “the real people”—were prepared to stand up and fight for what they believe in, they can also win in November. “Project Fear,” he said, is a powerful enemy, but it can be defeated.
“My advice to you: If you want change in this country, you better get your walking boots on,” he said. “You better get out there campaigning and remember: Anything is possible if enough decent people are prepared to stand up against the establishment.”
Trump joined Farage on stage, which hadn’t originally been planned. And afterward, he thanked the British national for the motivational speech. Then, he said it was time for America to “recapture its destiny.”
“Our government, our leaders and our media have lost touch with the people,” he said. “You need no better evidence of that than the fact that the media ignores the plight of Americans who have lost their children to illegal immigrants, but spends day after day pushing for amnesty for those here in violation of the law.
“Why do our leaders spend so much more time talking about how to help people here illegally than they spend trying to help American citizens? My priorities will never change: jobs, wages and security for Americans.”
And, while he hinted there may be a revamp of his immigration policy, the changes will be very slight. And when he announces his new policy, he promised those in attendance that it would feature three main priorities:
- First, it must improve jobs and wages for U.S. citizens.
- Second, it must improve the safety and security of U.S. citizens.
- Third, it must improve the quality of life for U.S. citizens.
“Hillary Clinton’s radical immigration plan fails these tests, and it fails them badly,” he said. “Her push for open borders will lower the wages and kill the jobs of lawful American residents. Her support for catch-and-release will put innocent American lives at risk—just like President Obama released the illegal immigrant at the border who then killed Sarah Root. Yesterday, I met with her mom, Michelle.
“Hillary Clinton only talks about the separation of families who chose to come here illegally. I want to talk about the American families who’ve been permanently separated from their children because of the Sanctuary Cities and open borders Hillary Clinton supports. Where is the sanctuary for American children? The dreamers we never talk about are young Americans.
“Hillary Clinton also wants to push to bring in 620,000 refugees in her first term—a number of whom come from countries where women and gays are horribly brutalized—which will weaken our tolerant way of life. I only want to bring people to our country who share our values and love our people.”
