WikiLeaks: Clinton Aides Discussed ‘Cordial Relationship’ With Attorney General

Among the newest emails released by WikiLeaks is a chain of communications among Clinton staffers in which they discussed whether or not the former secretary of state should write a letter of support for then-Attorney-General-select Loretta Lynch.

Longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin weighed in on the discussion, saying:

She knows Loretta. Not an extremely close relationship and don’t remember last time they connected. She was in running to be Spitzer LG years ago. Hrc wanted Leecia Eve, others pushed Lynch. Regardless, definitely a cordial relationship.

That “cordial relationship” is what concerns a number of observers that perhaps the Department of Justice and FBI gave Clinton a pass when others in similar circumstances would’ve been prosecuted. And with FBI insiders saying the decision not to recommend charges against the former secretary of state was “top-down” decision, this email only further paints an unsavory picture.

The email conversation took place in March of 2015, just a few months before the FBI launched its investigation, which was based on a State Department Office of Inspector General’s recommendation.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign weighed in on the new revelations with a statement from campaign spokesman Jason Miller. He said the emails prove “what we already know: the deck is stacked in Clinton’s favor.”

“From her campaign openly colluding with the Department of Justice during the investigation into her secret server to discussing the email release schedule with State Department officials, the collusion between the Obama Administration and Clinton’s allies is deeply disturbing and makes one question the impartiality of the federal government in this election,” he added.
