WikiLeaks: ‘Conservative Media’ CEO Worked Closely With Clinton Campaign
With the news today that illegal immigration into the U.S. surged 23 percent in the past year alone, it should be no surprise that an overwhelming majority of Americans (83 percent) favor restrictions on immigration to the U.S.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is not among those people. In fact, she is very much of the opposite mindset, which really shouldn’t surprise anyone. What might come as a shock, however, is that she’s getting help in her efforts from the CEO of a conservative news outlet.
According to an email dated June 25, 2014, Newsmax founder and CEO Chris Ruddy told Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta he was willing to coordinate a meeting with “conservative leaders” in an effort to get the Gang of Eight immigration bill to pass the House of Representatives. He wrote:
Thank you again for taking the time out to meet me this week. I really enjoyed our chat and meeting Celia, as well as saying hello to Denis.
I had a meeting with Mario Diaz Balart today who tells me the re whipping is not going well in terms of votes. He says that they really have been hurt by the Cantor loss. He still has some additional votes to review.
He Is interested in proceeding. We have agreed to cohost a meeting of conservative leaders likely the week of July 7 in DC for him to lay out his concepts. Hopefully we can gauge reaction after that meeting as well. I will let you know what I am up to. If you have any suggestions for me please feel free to share them.
It’s not the first time the “conservative” media mogul has teamed up with the Clinton camp. In 2015, it was revealed he donated $1 million to the Clinton Foundation, and the foundation’s website still lists him as a contributing columnist.
This, from a guy who built his entire reputation by opposing President Bill Clinton in the 1990s. This, from a guy who once wrote:
Hillary Clinton doesn’t play by the rules. That’s not a partisan attack. It’s not a talking point. It’s not a fantasy. It’s a fact.
Then again, perhaps he’s just trying to be a “good American.” During an October 2013 speech to Goldman Sachs executives, Hillary Clinton declared that anyone who was in favor of limiting immigration was “fundamentally un-American.” WikiLeaks recently released the trascript of that speed, in which she said:
What I really resent most about the obstructionists is they have such a narrow view of America. They see America in a way that is no longer reflective of the reality of who we are.
They’re against immigration for reasons that have to do with the past, not the future. They can’t figure out how to invest in the future, so they cut everything. You know, laying off, you know, young researchers, closing labs instead of saying, we’re better at this than anybody in the world, that’s where our money should go.
They just have a backward-looking view of America. And they play on people’s fears, not on people’s hopes, and they have to be rejected. I don’t care what they call themselves. I don’t care where they’re from. They have to be rejected because they are fundamentally unAmerican.
You might recall in her “basket of deplorables” speech, Clinton said those very same deplorables were “not America.”
