Reddit, the online social media outlet billed as “the front page of the Internet,” is a place seldom visited by political candidates—especially a major-party presidential nominee.
Just add one more check mark to the list of unconventional campaign activities for Republican Donald Trump. He was scheduled to take part in one of Reddit’s famous “Ask Me Anything” sessions that was set to begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Ask Me Anything sessions are notoriously difficult for participants because Reddit users take a literal approach to the word “Anything.” Trump was slated to begin answering questions at 7 p.m. at https://www.reddit.com/
Those who are unfamiliar with Reddit should beware. The social media outlet is only very loosely moderated, and some objectionable material may be presented by the Reddit users asking Trump their questions.
The Trump campaign’s “Mod Team” issued the following statement:
Just to clarify, this train has absolutely no brakes! If you thought you were tired of winning after the unbelievable success of last week’s RNC, get ready for more! Get your questions ready, put on your [Make America Great Again] hats, and bring your high-energy—it’s going to be TREMENDOUS!
