‘Dyed in the Wool’ Conservative Governor Endorses Marco Rubio
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, who previously served 15 years in the U.S. Senate, is arguably one of the most conservative governors in the country, and a strong defender of the unborn, limited government and traditional values.
Monday afternoon, he became one of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio’s biggest fans. In an endorsement statement released by the Rubio campaign, Brownback said the Florida senator was the “true conservative who can unite the party and defeat Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders” in the November general election.
“In the past, conservatives have been forced to make a choice between their head and their hearts,” he said. “This year, we are fortunate to not have to make that choice. Marco Rubio has a proven track record of protecting life, defending religious liberty, and undoing Obamacare. He will be a wonderful president, and I am proud to offer him my full support.”
The Rubio campaign called Brownback “one of the most outspoken leaders” in the conservative movement. The statement said the Kansas governor has spent more than two decades “fighting for the principles that have made our nation exceptional.”
“Just like Governor Brownback, Marco has consistently defended life, small government and free enterprise throughout his career in public service,” the Rubio campaign’s regional spokesman, Jeremy Adler, said. “We are honored to have earned the governor’s endorsement and are glad he is a part of our growing team of conservatives to ensure that Marco defeats the Democrats this November.”
