Carrie Underwood wowed the audience at the 56th Academy of Country Music awards Sunday night with her performance of a medley of songs from her upcoming album, My Savior.

Selections included a special performance from CeCe Winans during a duet rendition of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” “Old Rugged Cross” and other classic gospel tunes.

A socially distanced choir provided soulful accompaniment to the two powerhouses’ vocals.

Before introducing her, Dolly Parton said of Underwood, “I have always admired Carrie’s incredible talent, but I am just as impressed with her personal qualities—her compassion, kindness, generosity and, most of all, the powerful faith that we both share.”

She continued, “Now, her performance tonight speaks to that faith in a medley from her new gospel hymns album, My Savior, which I know is a true passion project for her.” {eoa}
