Many believers have many questions about what will happen in the end times, and here are two that are foremost in their minds:
1) When will the time come when the mark of the beast is implemented into our culture and society, and 2) what will Satan do to try to trick people into taking the mark?
While the Bible doesn’t mention the exact timing to answer the first question, the answer to the second question can be revealed in two simple words: Deception and idolatry.
In this video by Lion of Judah Ministries, it is explained that deception and idolatry will play key roles in even unenlightened Christians who will accept the mark of the beast, therefore sealing their fate in hell for all of eternity.
Deception will come when the Antichrist makes his appearance on earth. He will not come as a beast, but he will come as a man of peace and a man of solution. He will bring peace where others have failed. He will emulate miracles. He will not let his true intention be known immediately and people will trust him to the point where they will follow him to do anything he says, including taking the mark of the beast.
Revelation 13:16-17 (MEV) reads, “He causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one may buy or sell except he who has the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name.”
The deception, indeed will be great.
The second reason people will receive the mark will come in the form of idolatry. The Antichrist will be an idol and “utterly adored by the world,” but the world is already seeing the tragedy of idolatry in the form of celebrity worship. People worship movie stars, musicians and athletes, exalting them above God.
More than 2,000 years ago, people worshiped statues and other man-made idols. But, in this sophisticated culture, people have come to worship other human beings, and that is the simplest form of idolatry.
The only way of escape is to know God’s Word intimately. Second Thessalonians 2:3 reads, “do not let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless a falling way comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction” (MEV).
