WATCH: Why Should Christians Even Be Concerned About the Antichrist?

The Bible reveals a great deal about the coming of the Antichrist. There are approximately 100 passages in the Bible that deal with him.

Pastor and author Mark Hitchcock says he doesn’t believe that the Antichrist will emerge on the scene until after the Rapture of the church. So begs the question, why should Christians even be concerned about him if they won’t even be on earth when he arrives?

“My view is that Satan always has a man ready in every generation, and that there is always an Antichrist alive somewhere,” says Hitchcock, senior pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, and author of books such as The End: A Complete Overview of Bible Prophecy and the End of Days.. “We don’t know who he is, but he will rise insignificantly at first.

“One of these days when everything is ready, the man Satan has prepared is going to step to the forefront and become this world ruler, this dominant player on the world scene,” he adds. “I’ve had many people come to me who try to figure out who he is, and if they ever do figure it out, I’ve got bad news for them. They have been left behind.

“People also ask me why should we worry about the Antichrist when we’re not even going to be here when he comes,” Hitchcock says. “But ask yourself, why did God tell us so much about this person? I think one of the reasons why God tells us about the coming Antichrist is because we can already see the spirit of Antichrist in our world today. Another reason is that the Antichrist is going to be ultimately defeated by God. When God someday defeats the greatest concentration of evil, then that gives us comfort that he can take care of the evil we see in our world today.”
