Kim Davis and the Conscience of a Nation

Kim Davis, the County Clerk for Rowan County in the state of Kentucky, spent six days in jail, placed there by the failure of Evangelical pastors and pews to bring Biblical values to the public square over the last century. Without virtue, individuals, political parties, and nations will be a living shame.

Mrs. Davis is positioned front and center in the war for ideological supremacy between two unalterable religions: Christianity and Secularism. Her decision to side with the God of the Bible is a wise one. Let the writer and reader learn to esteem Who God is and how God acts. Davis stands by her faith in the God of Scripture, and in Him she will not be disappointed.

She is in the maelstrom of a hostile environment—a once-Christian culture now led around by the nose by hostile secularists. They control secular government, secular courts, secular media, secular advertising, and secular retail – all worshiping at the feet of the golden calf of Secularism.

Corporate America—having capitulated to the homosexual movement—needs to be held accountable. 

Proverbs 8:1 says, “Listen! Isn’t it Wisdom calling, good sense raising her voice? Atop the heights near the road, at the crossroads, she takes her stand; near the gates at the city entrance, at the portals she cries aloud.”

As William McKane rightly stated, “Wisdom delivers her message where the competition is fiercest, not competition from other orators but from the everyday distractions of business, politics, and disputes. Far from being esoteric or academic, Wisdom plunges into the midst of this hustle and bustle to reach people where they are.”

In the thirtieth chapter of Deuteronomy, God presents Israel with a dilemma: choose life or death. America faces the same decision. If we do not return to our spiritual senses, then the circumstances we find ourselves in will not stare us in the face on account of “fate.”

No, there are inevitable consequences for disobedience to God’s Word. 

Secularism has lured America to coexisting with the enemy, cooperating with the enemy, and being corrupted by the enemy. But there are consequences to making alliances with an enemy who speaks in lies and deals in treachery.

There can be no reconciliation of opposites – the spiritual versus the secular.Secularism and Christianity cannot coexist and will ultimately end in the destruction of one of these two religions. God’s position on same-sex intercourse and marriage is only hidden from those who refuse to hear what He has made plain:

• “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done” (Rom. 1:26-28).

• “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:9-11).

The consequences of the foolish U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark 1963 decision to purge the Bible from public schools in 1963 guaranteed the certainty of societal decomposition. For 350 years prior, the Bible had been the fixed point of truth to order, structure, and judge society.

The secularist chickens are now coming home to roost. 

Natural Law has been drained of all truth by judicial secularists, relativists, and supremacists; what is good and what is evil is now determined by whatever five secular Supreme Court Justices can agree to on any given day.

Until Christians return to the public square with biblical values, and begin to engage the false god of Secularism, there is little chance for a spiritual resurrection. Pastors and pews must once again bring biblical standards to the public square; someone’s values are going to reign supreme. 

Homosexual militants once preached a libertarian argument: “Let us live our lives in the privacy of our homes and we will be content.” In the last few years the homosexual movement has moved to a totalitarian posture:”Bakers, photographers, and Christian retreat centers are going to participate in our weddings or be bankrupted.” 

The next phase of the homosexual crusade has arrived. Fascism meets Kim Davis: “You will celebrate and cheer at our weddings or spend time in jail.”

If homosexuals were simply looking for businesses to cater their weddings, many companies would gladly exchange services for dollars. But homosexuals are not looking for services, but shopping “venues” to target Christians who oppose their agenda so that they can coerce, intimidate, and make an example of those who oppose their immoral lifestyle.

The Biblical truth is that homosexuals will personally never be joyous or fulfilled until they find Jesus Christ. They are struggling with sin.

The tragedy for America is that the Founders’ successful model which created representative government and freedom has been demolished. The Founders did things differently then. John Jay, First Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court wrote, “The people are the sovereign of America.” What is becoming increasingly clear in the New World Order is that the American people are only the tenants by permission of the true landlord, the pagan majority of the United States Supreme Court.

We need a Gideon or Rahab the Harlot to join Kim Davis in standing.
