‘Biblical-Like Plagues’ Rock Egypt and Western Australia

In the book of Exodus, God rained down plagues of frogs, flies and locusts on the Egyptians under Pharaoh. While this may not parallel what the Egyptians suffered back then, one can’t help but wonder if these two phenomena are biblical signs of what is yet to come.

This past week in Egypt, it was reported that scorpions washed into homes due to heavy rains and stung three people to death and left more than 500 injured. Hail and thunderstorms along the River Nile swept the scorpions, as well as snakes, away from their usual hiding places in the city of Aswan.

Meanwhile, in Western Australia, 50 million cannibal crabs swarmed the June to the coast on Christmas Island, shutting down roads for an undisclosed period of time. The bright-red creatures descended upon townships in Western Australia in what is considered one of the greatest animal migrations on the planet.

In Egypt, this terrifying video shows scorpions trying to make it into one house as the flood waters rise. Egypt is home to fat-tailed scorpions, which are among the most deadly in the world and can kill a human within an hour.

Schools were ordered closed to protect children from the scorpions and snakes. The governor of the local region says at least 503 people were hospitalized after the scorpion stings. All of them were discharged after they were given anti-venom doses.

Egyptian weather forecasters have said rainfall is set to continue for the coming days over parts of South Sinai and south of Egypt.

In Western Australia, the cannibal crabs, which normally eat leaves, fruits, flowers and seeds, will also eat their young. The cannibal side comes out when babies returning from their first ocean migration are feasted on by adults as part of their diet.

Photos and video shared by Parks Australia show thousands of crabs scurrying across roads and specially-constructed bridges. They also turned up at the door of an office block. Residents of Drumsite settlement in the north east were trapped in their homes on Sunday due to the sheer number of crabs on the roads.
